Brass Lamp Makeover

Apparently we have lamp issues in our home.  Over the last year, five lamps have stopped working properly,  the switches just gave out.  It’s that “they don’t make things like they used to” thing, but that’s a conversation for another day.   Three have been repaired with handy little lamp kits from Home Depot.  Two have not been touched yet.  And this big brassy beauty, that has been waiting patiently in a corner of the basement for years for a chance to shine again, (ha ha) got a makeover.

And since you already know spray paint is my best friend, I decided last week to give this lamp another chance.  I used Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze, just one light coat, to give it the look of, well, oil rubbed bronze.  Then I trimmed the lamp shade down by four inches, reattached the bottom edge trim and we have a new lamp.

Now for a new couch.  Does anyone remember the Episode of Trading Spaces where Hilde, I think, or was it Genevieve, spray painted a sofa?  Hmmm. . .
