This has been vacation week for us. The last few days of summer before school begins next week. So today Little P went to grandma and grandpa’s for the day so we could have a date. . .all day. First on our schedule was indoor rock climbing. Very cool looking equipment, facility, etc. However, this very close to middle age mama looked not so cool. Mr. W, of course, had done this before and climbed right to the top. I watched a brother and sister, 10 and 12, scramble up every surface, of every ratings level. They had obviously done this before as well.
I could show you photos that make it look as if I was really up quite high, but truth is I stuck to the kiddie wall, the one with the alphabet letter hand holds and cute bug motifs. My goal was to make it as high as the yellow butterfly foot hold. And I did, once. Then I lost confidence and slipped and found myself headed ground-ward. Such fun, such hard work, and I will try it again.
Next a shopping trip to Super Target for school supplies (seriously, what will 26 kids do with 24 glue sticks each?), and lunch. Afterward we found some antique shops and took a quick look around, especially since there were no six year old fingers along. Found my favorite vintage postcards, linens and buttons. The buttons came home with me for some idea some day. A quick run thru Trader Joe’s and home. Gotta have that dried mango and dark chocolate.
More plans today, outside of course. We never have a whole week of sun-shiney days when Mr. W is off. Such luck indeed
